The Construction Site Supervisor oversees the construction process at new and rehab construction sites. The Construction Site Supervisor manages the work of Crew Leaders and volunteers, and works with the Construction Manager and Project Manager to coordinate the activities of subcontractors and skilled labor including plumbers, electricians, HVAC, other licensed trades professionals, as well as Montgomery and Prince Georges County officials and inspectors.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversee on-site construction through the completion of each project
  • Read and interpret blueprints and comply with house plans and layout
  • Direct and organize Crew Leaders and volunteers into teams
  • Conduct on-site Crew Leader training
  • Maintain construction site cleanliness and appearance
  • Comply with Habitat / OSHA/ MOSH safety procedures
  • Conduct volunteer safety briefings, and ensure signing of waivers by volunteers in the absenceof a member of the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Maintain on-site log
  • Participate with the Construction Manager during inspections and walk-through
  • Maintain the quality of workmanship and within general construction practices
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government building codes and environmental regulations
  • Contribute to, and support of, the Construction Manager and Project Manager in the selection of subcontractors, development of budgets, and creation of construction schedules
  • Assist the Construction Manager with the identification of possible in-kind donations
  • Purchase tools/ materials when needed
  • Must have approval of the Construction Manager or CEO for purchases in excess of $200
  • Participate in Staff Meetings and Construction Meetings
  • Perform others duties as assigned by the Construction Manager and Project Manager
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of three years experience in residential construction and supervision
  • Knowledge of standard building codes, and local government jurisdiction policies and procedures for inspections
  • Ability to read blueprints and implement house layout
  • Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail
  • Ability to motivate and train volunteers and future homeowners of diverse races, faiths, and skill level
  • Ability to work effectively with paid staff and volunteers
  • Ability to oversee multiple construction sites
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Willingness to complete OSHA and First Aid/CPR Training
  • Willingness to complete Green Card Certification
  • Good verbal communications skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and e-mail
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
