This part-time, unpaid internship in our Scarborough office offers a flexible schedule (10 - 15 hours per week) and a learning opportunity for a student seeking experience in a voluntary health organization.
The Communication Intern reports to the Director of Communications and assists with varied communications projects including creative, content development and logistics. The intern responsibilities include:
- Preparation and scheduling of social media content
- Assisting with flow of communications projects and timeline maintenance
- Follow-up on communications projects to provide weekly reports
- Develop event calendar listings, media alerts and press releases
- Research of media opportunities is local communities statewide
- Management of human interest story bank
- Interest in developing skills in a non-profit voluntary health organization
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Photo and video editing experience
- Self-management skills and ability to collaborate
- Understanding of file management systems and strong organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the appropriate use of media technologies
- Understanding of brand management
