AARP California has an opening for a paid internship in our San Diego Office.
Areas of Responsibility:
This internship position will assist our Advocacy and Community Engagement strategies and agenda, which includes:
- Building awareness of AARP’s Advocacy and Community Engagement work through coordination of activities and project management
- Supporting volunteers and partner organizations
- Working on national and grassroots campaigns and initiatives
- Providing education to help the 50+ audience learn how to stay in their homes and communities
- Convening and engaging public officials, community organizations, and coalitions to advance state and local advocacy issues
- Researching issues related to state and local initiatives
- Developing materials and writing reports (ie: infographics, fact sheets, PowerPoints, etc.)
Educational Background:
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.
Desired majors include public policy, urban planning, political science, gerontology or related fields.
