Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work with Community Development Representatives on special projects focused on fundraising efforts, sponsorship efforts, and other projects that may arise
  • Work with local Community Development Representatives to develop marketing materials for local events including but not limited to brochures, business cards, pamphlets, social media posts, event materials, etc.
  • Coordinates on-going production of annual American Cancer Society events by creating brochures and flyers and distributing throughout, working with field staff to ensure all related products are produced correctly and in a timely manner
  • Create Social Media content for local events
  • Manage Social Media Outlets for multiple local events
  • Utilize Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to help gain awareness of local events and to help people get involved in the fight against cancer
  • Work with staff partners and local media to promote local ACS events and programs
  • Work under direct supervision of Community Development Manager.  
  • Will require hours spent in the ACS office as well as independent work performed outside of the office environment
Educational Background: 
Full-time student, If you are an undergraduate student you  have completed your freshman year of college;
Skills/Experience: 
  • Skills:  Creativity; writing/communication skills; computer skills; able to work independently; as well as in a team environment; social media background; marketing background or major  
  • Normal Work Schedule:  Normal working hours are 8:30 am-4:30 pm; work schedule for this internship is flexible.  Hours can and will extend beyond normal working hours.  All Interns Must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);
  • Plan to continue their education in the following term/semester
    • Note: an internship assignment may coincide with the student’s last term/trimester, but student must disengage upon graduation.
