Develop, maintain, and manage all JavaScript code for the Answers in Genesis family of websites. Adept in all aspects of JavaScript, AJAX, and related front-end technologies. Comfortable working closely with web designers and back-end developers to build a variety of modern, dynamic web applications. The position is also accountable for displaying our Core Values of SERVE when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God honoring fashion.
- Model and uphold with all staff members—the Quality Service Standards of Safety, Hospitality, Presentation and Efficiency
- Collaborate within department in the day to day operations with the overall development of a SERVE culture
- Promote the Answers in Genesis, Creation Museum, and Ark Encounter mission
- Write robust JavaScript and jQuery plugins for a variety of web applications.
- Maintain, debug, and establish standards for all JavaScript and jQuery code.
- Manage asset files (JS, CSS/SASS, etc.) including versioning, compilation, minification, and deployment.
- Actively research the latest industry developments, making recommendations regarding new programming ideas, concepts, standards, and third-party JavaScript libraries.
- Mentor and advise designers and developers in JavaScript development and utilization.
- Develop and maintain JavaScript unit test coverage.
- Utilize and assist in the development of REST APIs.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other staff.
- And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Perspicaciously solve problems, balancing efficiency and speed with process and procedure.
- Intuitively break down problems into components and steps for development.

- Able to read and adapt to code written by others, even in unfamiliar programming, scripting, and markup languages.

- Sense of humility and cheerfulness, with a willingness both to correct one’s own mistakes and to address the mistakes of other team members calmly and professionally.
- 2+ years’ experience with JavaScript & JQuery with strong skills in each.
- 1+ years’ experience developing asynchronous web applications using AJAX/JSON.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JSON, responsive web design, and Git version control.
- Python, Django, PostgreSQL experience a plus.
