Position Summary

The Human Resources Specialist (HRS) is responsible for day to day employee/ labor relations, performance management, new hire onboarding, terminations, employee records, legal compliance, compensation, and benefits administration. The HRS is responsible for maintaining HRIS systems and updating information as needed, and collaborating with shared services and program teams throughout the Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Paycom

  • Manage Paycom HRIS modules

  • Serve as point of contact with Paycom to resolve issues

  • Create team member and lead client profiles and train team members

  • Review and update labor allocations in coordination with partnership managers

 

Recruitment

  • Review requisitions to create job postings

  • Create and/or edit role descriptions for postings

  • Post positions on different recruitment sites

  • Request that marketing team post open positions on social media

  • Review applications

  • Set up interviews and interview questions when needed

Onboarding

  • Send welcome email with Canva design with bio, 3 fun facts and image

  • Onboard new team members using onboarding checklist

  • Send new team members different resources and training materials

  • Support leads with drafting employment agreements, onboarding book in Canva, role plans, etc.

  • Set up new folder in the HR Google Drive folder

  • Submit IT tickets for equipment set up, Google email and voice accounts

  • Assign Sexual Harassment training and confirm completion (Paycom)

  • Verify required identification for I-9

  • Arrange IT equipment pick up and drop off to new hires with courier

  • Support team members will orientation to all systems used by BCZ

Offboarding

  • Manage offboarding process using termination checklist

  • Prepare offboarding email with required termination documents

  • Request final check from Accounting Clerk

  • Work on any follow up if needed

  • Coordinate IT equipment return from team member and delivery to Yolo Technologies

Benefits

  • Administer all health and retirement benefits including renewal, open enrollment, and enrolling and terminating team members

  • Pay benefit invoices and submit contributions to CalSavers

  • Act as point of contact for all health and retirement benefits

  • Manage annual benefit rollover or new benefit set up in Paycom

Personnel

  • Respond to unemployment claims

  • Support team members with filing WC claims and provide documents to Operations Coordinator for submission to WC carrier

  • Enter WC claim information into Paycom

  • Produce and post OSHA forms 300 and 300a at physical sites annually

  • Manage personnel records and file documents

  • Respond to and document team member personnel complaints and issues

  • Support with personnel related audit requests

Skills/Experience: 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of human resources management and HRIS experience

  • High school diploma

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of federal and multi-state law relating to payroll

  • Understanding of FLSA, multi-state (heavy California) wage and hour laws across all states

  • Excellent computer skills and current knowledge of G-Suite applications and Excel required

  • Paycom software experience preferred Experience with payroll processing and accounting software a plus

  • Must be highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Independent and innovative self-starter who can display an ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly changing situations

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional ability to work collaboratively and to provide excellent customer service to internal staff and external partners

  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally both orally and in writing
