If grassroots organizing is your passion, this job is for you. You’ll be immersed knee-deep in the 2020 election and a massive, multi-pronged effort to promote democratic participation. Our nationwide network of organizers will be guided by you and your leadership when it comes to registering and turning out voters at community events. This job, based at our home office in New York City, will require you to be motivated and organized, but also creative. You’ll be expected to experiment and think outside the box while documenting successful practices so it can be shared with others. By November, you will have helped register thousands of new voters and turned even more out to the polls.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities will include:

Overseeing and implementing non-partisan voter registration and volunteer recruitment drives reaching underserved communities

Serving as the key point person for relationships with select  national and local organizations

Managing a group of 2-3 part-time Field Fellows to help execute community voter registration programs in New York City and other select markets

Tracking and supporting community voter registration activity around the U.S. staged by HeadCount’s network of volunteer “Team Leaders”

Leading strategy and training as it relates to diversity and inclusion

Recruiting volunteers and paid organizers, and fostering a team environment inclusive to all

Playing a lead role in an initiative to hire full-time organizers in cities around the U.S. to expand the services we can offer in the communities most in need

Creating field guides and documenting best practices for community-based voter registration activities

Bringing an astute, culturally-aware voice to all decision-making and public communications.

Working with HeadCount’s artist relations team to identify and partner with more artists who are passionate about democracy and want to help turn out voters in 2020

Skills/Experience: 
  •  2+ years of professional experience working on a campaign, community organizing, or registering voters 
  • Bilingual candidates and candidates with strong ties to traditionally underserved communities are strongly encouraged to apply
Compensation/Benefits: 

Compensation and title are commensurate with experience and competitive within the nonprofit sector.
