With a focus on the mission of the United Way of New York City, this position plays an instrumental role in developing strong relationships with Imagination Library affiliates, community-based organizations, and the Department of Education staff citywide, assisting them in areas including, but not limited to, community engagement, parent empowerment/engagement, and data management. This position works directly on the United Way of New York City’s Imagination Library initiative, to ensure every child has access to books in their home.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Primary point of contact with Imagination Library NYC program leaders, enrolled families and prospective enrollees
- Works closely with Imagination Library NYC partners to assist with enrollment issues and creatively problem solve when needed
- Serves as the liaison between Imagination Library NYC partners, ReadNYC, and UWNYC’s Community Building unit
- Manages the inventory of undeliverable Imagination Library NYC books
- Represents UWNYC and Imagination Library NYC at community events, coalition meetings, conferences, and all other relevant local events in target communities across NYC to introduce and promote Imagination Library NYC
- Collaborates with the Director of Facilitation and Community Engagement to plan and execute the Imagination Library parent engagement strategy
- Coordinates with community partners quarterly community-based parent engagement opportunities
- Collaborates with the Senior Manager of Community Building to reconcile monthly invoices
- Collaborates with UWNYC Marketing and Communications team to develop content for digital and print marketing materials
- Works in tandem with supervisor to establishes monthly targets and tracks monthly progress towards enrollment goals
- Refines the enrollment process to align with community partners
- Facilitates data collection process with community partners
- Facilitates the evaluation process for registration, program participation, and parent engagement
- Collaborates with the Community Building team to define a process to measure effectiveness of community building, capacity building and aligned action collaborations
- Collaborates with the UWNYC Volunteerism Team to plan volunteer projects in support of Imagination Library
- Liaise with local post offices to facilitate book delivery
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (multi-lingual preferred)
- Strong technical capacity
- Well versed in MS Office
- Flexible and able to work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward
- clarity and solutions in a timely and decisive manner.
