The Donor Communications Specialist writes and edits a variety of communications materials to key stakeholders representing the NY Executive Director and The Nature Conservancy within a high intensity, fast-paced global wealth and influence market. This is a part time position and will be supervised by the Director, Donor Communications.
The Donor Communications Specialist represents on behalf of the NY Executive Director by writing and editing a variety of communication materials that educate and inform the Board of Trustees, donors, and the public to further the Conservancy and its fundraising goals. They create correspondence and provide editorial advice and expertise, partner with team/cross-departmental communication efforts, and work with outside writers and related vendors as needed. Their written products focus heavily on Executive Director written correspondence (emails & letters). They may include high-level donor profiles, funding proposals and summaries, executive-level speeches, op-ed pieces, fact sheets, and presentations. They will work closely with the NY Executive Director’s team, the Executive Assistant, the Volunteer Leadership & Events Manager, the Chief Development Officer and a team of Donor Relationship Managers.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Develops and writes in the voice of the NY Executive Director
- Is accountable for meeting assigned project goals and objectives
- May serve as team lead on assigned communication initiatives
- Does not supervise staff but will coordinate the work with peers
- Resolves issues independently within program area
- Works independently without requiring detailed management review of general work
- Experience writing or editing the following types of communication: newsletter, magazine, annual report, website articles/stories, donor profiles, presidential acknowledgment letters, campaign brochures, funding proposals, fact sheets, presentations, or equivalent
- Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects under varying and tight deadlines
- Experience distilling broad concepts into clear take-home messages
- Experience drafting high-level and diplomatic correspondence
