Artolution seeks a full-time Development Manager to coordinate and manage all our fundraising activities. Reporting to the Operations Director, the person in this role will be a pivotal member of a small team based in New York, and will take full responsibility for all aspects of Artolution’s philanthropic fundraising activities. This is a new role and the appointee will be expected to use their previous experience in the field to develop systems and processes in all areas of fundraising from a near-zero base.
To be considered for this position, you must have an established background in coordinating nonprofit fundraising strategies. This includes:
- Developing and maintaining a database of donors, ensuring that one-time, repeat and regular donors are categorized accurately, and that the organization’s response to donors in each category is appropriate.
- Identifying and acting on opportunities to expand donor numbers through social media and website traffic.
- Identifying charitable trusts and foundations with a possible interest in supporting Artolution’s work, collaborating with the other members of the executive team and board to approach them.
- Developing an annual grant application schedule, and writing drafts of applications.
- Working with the small executive team and other board members in developing approaches to potential high net worth supporters of Artolution’s mission, and devising stewardship programs for those with the highest potential.
- Identifying corporations whose corporate social responsibility interests align with Artolution’s mission, and working with the executive and board members to develop proposals and pitches for support.
The appointee to this role will be the sole fundraising executive in the team, and so it will be vital that s/he has the ability to work independently, and with minimal direct supervision, is able to establish priorities amongst competing opportunities.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years non-profit development experience.
- Familiarity with CRM nonprofit software, donor databases and other relevant fundraising technology.
- Experience in writing grant applications, and submissions to trusts and foundations. Examples of previous work will be required before interview.
The personal characteristics we seek include:
- The ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a small team.
- The ability to write well, clearly and in a variety of styles appropriate to different target audiences.
- An understanding of and empathy with Artolution’s mission and purpose, and an authentic, personal appreciation of the importance and impact of our work.
- The ability and confidence to speak and make presentations about Artolution’s work.
$60,000-$70,000 / year based on experience
Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2019 and early submissions are encouraged. Please send application materials (resume, cover letter, references, and salary requirements) to [email protected].
