The Special Events Intern will assist the Development Department with the overall implementation of the Twin Cities Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the Alzheimer’s Association, Minnesota-North Dakota. This internship will include aspects of event planning, including: logistics, marketing and promotion, volunteer engagement, team captain and walker stewardship, and implementation on Walk day. 

These internships are unpaid. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited university and receiving academic credit in exchange for work performed at the Association.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Individual may perform and gain experience in the following activities:

  • Special events coordination
  • Volunteer engagement
  • Committee meeting management
  • Marketing
  • Public relations
  • Media relations
  • Attend and assist with the event on Saturday, September 28
Educational Background: 
Candidate must be able to complete the internship (with a minimum of 240 hours for the semester) in exchange for school credit.

  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to relate to individuals of all socio-economic backgrounds
  • Must have applicable coursework.

Individual will need or develop:

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Familiarity with Association and community disease-related resources, programs and events, plus a basic/comfortable level of knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
