POSITION: Volunteer Coordinator

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Family & Volunteer Services

POSITION SUMMARY: The Volunteer Coordinator works within the Family and Volunteer Services department to implement successful strategies that focus on recruiting, cultivating, scheduling, and retaining skilled and unskilled volunteers through building and sustaining strong relationships, increasing awareness, and educating the community about our mission. It is imperative that the volunteer needs of affiliate departments (construction, administration, ReStore) are met on a consistent basis. This position works Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, with some evenings and weekends required. Compensation is hourly at $15.50/hour.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedule, supervise, recruit and maintain strong relationships with construction, office, and special events volunteers
  • Plan, seek, and attend outreach and public speaking events such as community days, special builds, fairs, seminars, etc. to increase awareness and educate the community about volunteer opportunities
  • Accompany large or donor groups on the construction site and at event locations and make sure to assist when needed, taking pictures and ensuring the event is successful and memorable for the volunteers
  • Attend weekly meetings with ReStore, administration, and construction departments to identify volunteer needs
  • Plan and host quarterly volunteer appreciation events, annual volunteer appreciation event, as well as other volunteer events on an as needed basis
  • Implement methods to monitor and track volunteer experiences and perform appropriate follow up to ensure retention
  • Successfully utilize Salesforce database to manage volunteers and volunteer groups and maintain a well-developed and organized Salesforce database record for each and every volunteer
  • Help start and support all campus chapters and clubs
  • Maintain the volunteer room, update volunteers on affiliate news, and regularly interact with all volunteers in the ReStore
  • Hold regular orientation/information sessions with new individuals or groups interested in volunteering in the ReStore on a regular basis
  • Work with and keep track of hours for volunteers in court ordered community service programs, back to work programs, and unemployment programs
  • Administrative tasks related to volunteer services

Administration
  • Order and maintain event supplies
  • Prepare office for special meetings and events
  • Keep office and shared spaces clean and organized
  • Prepare for all board events and take meeting minutes at monthly board meetings
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent organization and time-management abilities
  • Positive and passionate spirit with a tenacity for change
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office 365, database management, and email/calendar
