David & Margaret Youth and Family Services empowers children, youth, and families through culturally diverse services that foster emotional, educational, spiritual, and identity development. David & Margaret supports foster youth through all stages of their lives. From placing infants in stable foster homes to residential care for adolescents to career readiness for youth aging out of foster care, making sure their needs and their family's needs are met. David & Margaret wants to make sure the youth and families they serve have the resources to thrive.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Advancement Officer will be the primary staff to cultivate and grow the donor base, serve as the lead staff member for the annual gala and work collaboratively with the community engagement team on all activities and events. This position reports directly to the Chief Community Engagement Officer.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Donor Development and Cultivation

  • Act as the lead staff person in the identification, cultivation and stewardship of individual donors
  • In partnership with the Community Engagement director, research & identify prospective corporate supporters
  • Establish a network to represent the organization in professional societies/organizations
  • Manage CRM / donor database to plan, track and analyze results of development efforts
  • Oversee the implementation and growth of the Faith Based Giving program

Special Events

  • Take a lead role on signature gala and support other events as needed
  • Recruits and supervises event volunteers, ensuring organized support leading up to and inclusive of the day of the event
  • Participates in the oversight of the event committee, supporting the acquisition and procurement of silent auction donations
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-3 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Experience with annual giving, small to mid-level donors, and events preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); ability to lead and be part of a team and detail oriented.
  • Computer literate in database management, internet search techniques and Microsoft office.
  • Must have valid California driver’s license and automobile available for use during work hours.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
