AARP Arkansas is looking for a Communications and Outreach Intern to join its busy Little Rock, Arkansas office.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Produce (research and plan), shoot, write and edit video profiles to be distributed via AARP Arkansas’ social media outlets 
  • Help plan and execute outreach and advocacy events  
  • Participate in other collaborative staff projects
  • Provide communications support for national and local advocacy campaigns, and community outreach initiatives.   
  • Communicate with media and the general public, using traditional media platforms and digital media channels.
  • Create content for state office webpage, social media sites, e-newsletters
  • Prepare and distribute news releases
Educational Background: 
Prospective intern must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctorate students.
Skills/Experience: 

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.  This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.

Additional requirements:

  • You will be expected to have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Facebook and Twitter. In addition, experience with any or all of the following software/applications is highly desirable: Creating and editing videos, YouTube, WordPress, and Sprinklr.
  • You must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; have an interest in learning about issues impacting people 50+; possess excellent organizational and communications skills; and be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week in our Little Rock office.
