The security officer is responsible to assist for implementing programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to preserve FHI360/IHSAN staff safety. The security officer assists the security manager to closely monitors staff compliance and accident statistics and implements corrections as needed. The security officer works under direct supervision of Security Manager. The security officer is responsible for ensuring that staff understands safe work procedures and are competent to safely carry out their assigned duties.
- Assist in implementation of the standard security plan, policies and procedures to make sure staff safety and security.
- Prepare a checklist of minimum safety requirements and maintain the status update on compliance or issues to be addressed;
- Conduct recces inside Kabul and in other provinces during need.
- Responsible for safety and security related matters at the office
- Keeps track of all issues pertaining to the security conditions in the country and in Kabul especially, by following the news, tracing rumors in the city and through other sources on daily basis
- Assist in conducting or practicing security related trainings
- Ensure all safety and security related matters are effectively and efficiently, resolved, recorded and disseminated
- Assist in preparing and sharing security related information for staff updates during office meetings or for immediate incidents by SMS or by email
- Ensure that drivers are updated on all safety/security procedures and movement restrictions in Kabul
- Assist in close collaboration with drivers, ensure daily monitoring and assessment of routes for staff movements in the city
- Assist for daily supervision and annual performance evaluation of drivers.
- Assist in planning security for special and high-risk events
- Prepare purchase requests (PRs) for security/transport related supplies and equipment as needed
- Escort visitors inside the compound and during expatriates’ movements outside of the compound.
- Assist in responding to medical emergencies, possible threats, fire alarms or intrusion alarms, following emergency responses procedures
- Assist in preparing reports or make presentation on internal investigations, losses or violation of regulations, policies and procedures
- Check properly the balance of vehicle logbooks with vehicle request forms
- Manage transport requests with its mileage controls.
- Manage daily vehicle movement trackers and monitor vehicle management control checklist.
- Inform procurement department on time for any transport requirement (fuel, service, damage etc.)
- Perform any other task assigned by supervisor
- Two to three years of relevant experience in security/transport management with national and international NGOs
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent client-facing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deal with difficult callers
- Logical thinker
- Up-to date technical knowledge
- Good accurate records keeping
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team unit.
