Internal Job Title: Principal Advisor - Market, Jacksonville

Responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue goals in charitable contributions through a variety of fundraising channels (annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate donations, events, sponsorships, etc.) in assigned market, often with growth potential. Develops and implements meaningful acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to significantly grow giving with St. Jude donors and supporters in a geographic market. Includes initiating, activating, supporting and inspiring high value volunteers, committees, and Advisory Councils to identify and acquire donors through relationships, events, and activations. Manages a blended portfolio of leadership annual giving, major gift, and corporate donors as well as leadership volunteers with responsibility of retaining and growing donor giving.

Areas of Responsibility: 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue goals in charitable contributions through a variety of fundraising channels (annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate donations, events, sponsorships, etc.). Monitors, evaluates, and adjusts to meet revenue, goals and KPI's that are aligned to strategic direction.

  2. Serves as the fundraising strategist for a high-potential growth market, helping to align the market strategic goals with fundraising programs and national campaigns. Develops and implements strategies to ensure that ALSAC drives growth in fundraising, ensuring achievement of market fiscal goals as efficiently as possible.

  3. Develops and manages relationships with high wealth donors, volunteers, and corporate partners. Develops and grows both existing and new programs to enhance the total fundraising revenue of the market.

  4. Recruits, trains, develops, and manages multiple executive level volunteer advisory councils and committees. 

  5. Conducts research and is knowledgeable of current market trends and current happenings to develop new business.

  6. Works leads through donor moves management. Conducts prospect research on potential donors and develops donor proposals. Maintains and updates contact information on shared target lists.

  7.  Establishes and enforces policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Utilizes strong problem-solving skills to effectively address any issues in collaboration with others in appropriate style; to proactively identify and prevent potential problems.

  8. Sets market strategic direction and expectations. Tracks market performance and provides strategic recommendations to leadership. Develops, implements, and monitors measurable performance metrics and analytics to quantify progress against financial and organizational goals; as well as to evaluate fund-raising programs, opportunities and efficiency and effectiveness efforts. Reviews and evaluates monthly progress to determine areas that require attention and action. 

  9. Maintains a positive relationship and ongoing communication with board members, donors, third party organizations and volunteers throughout the assigned market; represents ALSAC-St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in such a manner as to reflect positively on the hospital and our fundraising organization.

  10. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing a portfolio of individual donors, corporations, and high value volunteers in the market by developing donor strategies to close five and six figure gifts.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

  1. Performs various other duties as assigned.       

  2. Performs job duties as assigned as part of ALSACs Business Continuity Management Program, including annual maintenance and testing of business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency response plans. 

Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in fund-raising including budgeting, cost control, and special events fundraising

  • Excellent diplomacy skills

  • Effective at building professional relationships with internal and external key teams

  • Regular interactions with people of high wealth and influence

  • Knowledge of community development best practices and issues

  • Knowledge of philanthropic communities

  • Self-directed and capable of working independently with limited oversight

  • Speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations

  • Ability to understand extremely complex verbal or written instructions and execute on those instructions

  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and public speaking skills 

  • Demonstrated negotiating and listening skills

  •  Involves working evenings and weekends 

  • Knowledge ordinarily acquired through a bachelor’s degree or more than 8 years of experience 

 

Mental – Requires a relatively high degree of concentration and attention intermittently to develop detailed projections analysis and report on revenue and expense trends and variances; period of mental effort and concentration followed by other aspects of the job with lesser concentration and attention requirements.

Environmental - Requires capability of performing essential job functions within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate control tolerances.   

Physical - Requires walking/standing approximately 25% of the time, sitting and lifting 70% of the time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of the time; involves travel 20% of the time.
