Director, Partnership Strategy & Innovation

The Director of Partnership Strategy and Innovation will help drive new business for expanding our roster of transformational and co-creation focused corporate partnerships. The Director will be responsible for identifying, starting dialogue and pitching high potential prospects that meet Save the Children’s strategies and thematic program areas.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the Senior Director, Social Innovation Partnerships, in creating plans for transitioning recently won accounts to the Account Management team, to ensure high level corporate partner satisfaction with Save the Children. (40%)
  • Oversee a minimum of two staff (Manager and/or Associate Director level) on the new business team in driving $4+ million in combined revenue from new corporate partnership sources. Assist team in developing sector and prospect research; targeting strategy for top prospects by sector; customizing pitch decks, concept notes and shared value proposals; as well as SMT / board outreach plans. Provide ongoing mentorship to ensure progress toward professional and career development goals. Additionally, ensure team members support other members of the new business team including the Senior Director, Partnership Strategy and Innovation and the AVP, as assigned. (25%)
  • Support Senior Director, Partnership Strategy and Innovation, to identify and inform product and program innovations that lead to breakthroughs for children based on private sector strategy and help develop strategy and visibility plan to position Save the Children as partner of choice for transformational partnerships. (20%)
  • Support key accounts as they are transitioned to the Account Management team, as assigned. (10%)
  • Lead Action Team or other working group of the Corporate Partnership Council, as assigned. (5%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 7-10 years' progressively responsible global professional experience in private sector in business development, marketing or strategic planning and/or corporate partnership development and fundraising with an iNGO
  • Strong Level of Technical and/ or Managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to direct the operational activities of a Unit or Team, or provide technical advice, guidance and management related to various size programs, grants or projects
  • Must have demonstrated strategic ability to cultivate partners and maximize revenue
  • Comfortable representing Save the Children and its mission to senior level external audiences
  • Extremely client focused and results oriented
  • Ability to demonstrate strong managerial skills
  • Ability to navigate challenging situations to achieve goals and deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve and take initiative
  • Ability to drive projects through to completion
  • Ability to work in ambiguous, highly matrixed environment
  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in corporate relationship building and innovative, shared value partnerships
  • Up to 15% travel may be required
