Knowledge Management Unpaid Intern, International Family Planning

This internship will support one or more research and research utilization teams within FHI 360’s Contraceptive Technology Innovation Department (CTID).  The CTID works to develop new and improve existing contraceptive technologies to better meet the needs of women in low-resource settings.  Projects include early stage product development, clinical research, and contraceptive method introduction activities. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Intern will contribute  in the following ways (list not exhaustive): 

  • Contribute to the development of a global Knowledge Management strategy for the LEAP LNG-IUS Initiative study (see here for more information about project: https://www.fhi360.org/news/grant-evaluate-potential-impact-long-acting-...)
  • This may include supporting data visualization with study results; supporting development of a micro-website with content about the levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG-IUS; also known as the hormonal IUD); and/or contributing to completion of literature reviews, presentations, blogs and/or reports.
  • Develop content for the Contraceptive Technology Innovation Exchange website (https://ctiexchange.org/) including writing blogs, updating the resource library, contributing to development of webinars and/or supporting new social media campaigns.
  • Contribute to other Knowledge Management activities related to international family planning, as needed
  • Assist with project-related administrative tasks, as needed

Expected Project Deliverables Project deliverables are to be determined, but may include data visualization products (e.g. data dashboards), literature reviews, PowerPoint presentations, blogs, reports, and/or plans for social media campaign(s). The position is based in Durham, NC; international travel not anticipated/required.

Educational Background: 
No specific education level is required. Undergraduates are encouraged to apply.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and cultural competency are required. 
  • Ability to work independently and within inter-disciplinary teams. 
  • A strong interest in international health and development work.
