Contraceptive Technology Innovation Intern

The Contraceptive Technology Innovation Intern will work closely with technical staff from the Contraceptive Technology Innovation Department (CTI Department) to provide support to a multidisciplinary team working on family planning and contraceptive development. Activities may include conducting literature reviews, completing writing assignments, supporting communications/knowledge management activities, and providing support to on-going family planning projects.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and implements activities related to family planning research and contraceptive product development
  • Contributes to literature reviews and drafting of journal articles and other writing assignments
  • Supports the coordination of technical consultations and other meetings
  • Conducts special studies in conjunction with a project, analyzes data and makes recommendations
  • Provides administrative support to projects
  • Performs other duties assigned

  • Works on problems of moderate scope that require analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors and interpretation of the situation.
  • Exercises judgment within defined and existing practices to determine specific work methods for obtaining results.
  • Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Has no supervisory responsibility.
  • Contributes to business and departmental functions to achieve goals and acquire work experience.
  • Receives general instructions on assignments and work is reviewed for accuracy and completion.
  • Typically reports to a Manager.
Educational Background: 
A minimum of 1 year of college experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in family planning and global health and development
  • At least one year of college completed
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Prior research experience preferred.
  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand held devices.
