The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Temporary Internship opportunity in our Internal Audit Department, Corporate Operations team located in Dallas, TX.

In this role, you will perform a variety of duties related to accomplishing operational, financial and compliance audits, as well as special projects. Exposure to audit work programs and risk assessments. The Internal Audit Intern will apply technology to accomplish goals, including the use of Galvanize data analytics, Tableau and financial software. Internal Audit projects will be assigned to provide a variety of exposure to a career in governance, risk management and compliance.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Internal Audit Intern will be provided an opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of the audit profession by working with senior internal audit and advisory staff. The Internal Audit Intern will:

  • Receive exposure to the internal audit profession in an automated environment, including IIA Professional Auditing Standards.
  • Gain experience at a major non-profit approaching $1B in revenue
  • Develop personally and professionally
  • Receive coaching to develop techniques and skills
  • Learn from each task assigned to include an assessment of strengths and opportunities
Educational Background: 
Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technology and/or Internal Audit, one to two years to graduation
Skills/Experience: 
  • Desire to learn the principles and practices of internal audit
  • Desire to be exposed to advance technology, including Financial Software, Tableau and Galvanize Data Analytics.
  • Ability to learn, think, reason, and solve problems with appropriate mentoring provided.
  • Ability to communicate both in writing, in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings.
