The Director of Corporate Engagement works cross-functionally with staff and volunteers across the organization to establish and drive execution on comprehensive resource development strategies, particularly our signature Workplace Campaign. Through emblematic leadership, savvy management and individual contribution, the Director works to ensure that UWGC realizes a greater share of the market potential, builds relationships with key individuals and corporate donors and prospects, and ensures that campaign staff and volunteers are prepared and motivated to deliver community impact via the campaign. The Director also ensures that campaign activities add tangible value to our corporate partners and supports achievement of their Corporate Social Responsibility goals and workplace values.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Possess superior knowledge of customer and donor relationship practices.
  • Build customized CSR packages for major corporate donors while assisting the campaign team in development of CSR packages for other corporate partnerships.
  • Provide thought leadership and holistic perspective around resource development and implementation of CSR strategy, focused on unifying, multiplying and amplifying the impact of this work across the organization.
  • Communicate organizational community impact objectives to donors, companies, and corporate and individual donor prospects.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of marketing and messaging best practices specific to corporate philanthropy.
  • Work cross-functionally with all staff and volunteers to meet resource development goals
  • Develop an authentic external presence within the business and non-profit communities
  • Build self-managing and self-directed teams of staff and volunteers to support the achievement of relationship and campaign objectives.
  • Provide comprehensive and meticulous service of ANDAR, our donor database to ensure accurate data entry, reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate regularly with fellow team members to ensure successful execution of all corporate engagement team strategies.
  • Maintain a portfolio of corporate campaigns; develop engagement plans for each key campaign, including leadership and community champions, and involve leadership and others as necessary to ensure healthy and mutually-beneficial relationships.
  • Build a strong bond with Resource Development & Community Impact colleagues, creating a true and lasting “marriage” between resource development and program teams.
  • Ensure that all strategies and tactics work together to produce a cohesive message and prominent UWGC brand within our service area.
  • Be an inspiring communicator, capable of speaking publicly on behalf of UWGC and advocating our mission and opportunities for support.
  • Interact regularly and impressively with our Board of Directors, informing them of and involving them with Workplace Campaign activities.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors’ degree or higher from an accredited four-year university
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of the United Way of Greater Chattanooga
  • Five years’ experience in a revenue-generation background; corporate relations or CSR experience preferred
  • Ninja-level verbal, written and visual communication skills
  • Ability to work with and motivate a broad spectrum of people
  • Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team effort and independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to take initiative as appropriate
  • Highly relational with strong ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, colleagues and direct reports
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to develop and improve systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Strong desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and deliver commitments in a timely manner
  • Disciplined, strong work ethic and comfort with working occasional non-standard hours (weekends and evenings)
  • Strong computer proficiency with expertise in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and donor databases.
