The Williams Sisters Ranch is a 1200-acre historic cattle ranch along Skyline Drive near La Honda. A beloved property, the ranch manager has taken care of the land for over 60 years and is a San Mateo County treasure. Audubon is seeking, on a separate track, to identify and negotiate a long-term grazing lease to bring cattle back to the property. The temporary ranch assistant will work with the ranch manager for approximately 16 hours per week to maintain operations during the recruitment and negotiation period for the long-term leasee. The candidate will be capable of completing day-to-day tasks, minor maintenance, and will be conscious of when additional capacity is needed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Vegetation management for fire suppression;
  • Fencing repair as needed;
  • Communicate timely about needed repairs that are outside of skillset or that would require an additional contractor;
  • Be able to provide support to ranch manager in case of emergency;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience with ranch related work;
  • Ability to work effectively with ranch manager and family members;
  • Knowledge and experience with ranch equipment; 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook;
  • Ability to engage professionally with employees at all levels and in all areas of the organization.
