Women’s March is a women-led movement providing intersectional education on a diverse range of issues and creating entry points for new grassroots activists & organizers to engage in their local communities through training, outreach programs, and events. Women’s March is committed to dismantling systems of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structures guided by self-determination, dignity, and respect. 

The Women’s March has become a leader in the disinformation defense space through our innovative inoculation program, Digital Defenders. We’ve trained thousands of activists to challenge right-wing narratives on the internet on issues that matter most to women, such as abortion, immigration, climate, and policing, to name a few. In addition, we’ve propped up a successful rapid response election disinformation hub, held big-tech accountable with our valued coalition partners, launched a disinformation defense meme and gif library, and set up bold inoculation initiatives to loosen the grip of right-wing online cults. We’re searching for a Director of Digital Advocacy to lead this work and expand our programmatic offerings. The Director will serve in a leadership position at the organization.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with Directors and the Executive Team to set organizational strategy and direction; this includes shaping organizational culture, creating frameworks and work plans, making personnel decisions, and establishing fundraising goals 

  • Collaborate with organizing and campaigns teams on overlapping programmatic priorities including but not limited to political education, activist training opportunities, and mass mobilizations

Coalitions and partnerships

  • Represent Women’s March in disinformation and digital advocacy coalition spaces

  • Regularly identify and run collaborative projects with aligned organizations on the issues of misinformation, disinformation, racism, and misogyny online 

  • Manage communications and already established relationships with advisors, researchers, and academics that provide guidance and mentorship on our disinformation work

Operations and Supervision

  • Supervise full-time Disinformation Strategist and any contractors that may be brought on to assist with the program

  • Implement task management system for all digital advocacy work

  • Manage external vendors for Digital Defenders programs, including but not limited to content creators, influencer engagement firms and research service providers

Training and base engagement

  • Set recruitment strategy and quarterly engagement metrics for the program

  • Decider on quarterly training priorities for the program

  • Supervise creation of all training content, including the training toolkit, scripts, and curriculum 

  • Facilitate Digital Defenders training(s) as needed

  • Coordinate collaborative campaigns and projects with partners

Fundraising

  • Identify funding opportunities for digital advocacy programs

  • Collaborate with executive team and Directors to secure funder meetings and organize briefings

  • Write and execute joint funding proposals with movement partners for collaborative projects

Skills/Experience: 
  • Are prepared to serve in a decision-making role as a leader at the organization

  • Have extensive experience mentoring and delegating to staff, contractors, and vendors  

  • Have demonstrated experience in advocacy and campaigning in any or all of our core digital advocacy focus areas: tech accountability, gender justice, eradicating white supremacy, disinformation/misinformation

  • Are an attentive and meticulous project manager with experience setting clear benchmarks and timelines

  • Excel at strong facilitation, presentation, and training with an eye towards accessible, engaging, and motivating content for new activists across demographics 

  • Are experienced in representing organizations in movement spaces ranging from roundtables to formal coalitions

  • Have curiosity and interest in new methods of shifting narrative online, from influencer engagement to experimenting with new social media platforms. Women’s March is a place where staff are encouraged and supported to propose new ideas, initiatives, and projects.

  • Are unafraid of experimentation and the pursuit of new opportunities, especially as the digital advocacy space is constantly evolving 

  • Have strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software and computer skills as needed. Competency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required

  • Embody strong interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity, sound judgment, and ability to communicate and work collaboratively in a small team openly and respectfully. We combat the pull in society and movements toward ego, elitism, and cliques, and our staff culture reflects this

Compensation/Benefits: 
  • The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000
