350.org is looking for an experienced communications practitioner with knowledge on regional media landscape and has strong media network in Latin America, knowledge and keen interest in working on climate change issues and with experience in working with diverse groups internationally.

You will develop and execute communications strategies for regional campaigns through direct (digital) and indirect (media) communications work. Implement regional communications strategies using relevant regional media moments to promote narratives and outputs aligned with campaign goals and strategies. You will be managing and working in collaboration with National Communication officers in the region.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Line manage members of the communications team and oversee short term communications contractors
  • Identify relevant media contacts, cultivate relationships with regional journalists, further develop and maintain media contact lists and pitch stories and op-eds
  • Collaborate with global and multimedia communications staff to spread global stories of relevance to regional media and coordinate spread of the designated region’s stories globally
  • Manage and coordinate the region’s communications team and align media and digital outreach in the region with global and organizational objectives.
  • Develop media materials such as press releases, media packages, as well as multimedia materials where possible/relevant
  • Monitor media, identify digital and media opportunities and engage with issues relevant for 350.org’s work and broader context
  • Develop and implement strategic media and digital communications plans for specific campaigns and regional events
  • Support and encourage the media work of 350.org network, national campaigners, and local groups in region
  • Collaborate internally to develop alignment between 350.org’s global, regional and national communications
  • Support and represent 350.org’s overall mission in public venues or other networks 
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least five (5) years of experience in media relations and communications in Latin America
  • Strong commitment to workplace justice, diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, concise terms (written and verbally)
  • Knowledge of the regional media landscape and strong media contact networks
  • Working knowledge of the current global debates on climate change and climate justice and strong interest in working on these issues
  • Multilingual: high level proficiency in a English and either Spanish or Portuguese
Compensation/Benefits: 
  • Brazil: BRL 223,200/year
  • Argentina: ARS 1,209,000/year
  • Colombia: COP 106,950,000/year
