Due to the substantial increase in assets, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is expanding its Investment Team. With senior leadership of this team in place, the focus is on hiring a talented Director of Operations to build and supervise an investment operations team and collaborate with our Finance and Audit teams to facilitate management of the investment portfolio. The Director will report directly to the Chief Investment Officer and work closely with the Investment team to ensure successful execution of all investment operations functions. This is a crucial role and will be part of a highly collaborative and purpose-driven culture with five shared values.  These core values are the pillars on which CFF stands and will continue to sustain us as we move forward.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director of Operations will lead the investment operations for the Foundation.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee portfolio reporting and attribution, including performance analytics, exposures, and benchmarks
  • Manage key vendor relationships (custodian, CRM, risk management systems, market data vendors, brokerage, external counsel, etc.)
  • Manage execution of investments, including subscription documents, capital calls, rebalancing, amendments, legal review, corporate actions, etc.
  • Work closely with Finance colleagues to facilitate execution of capital calls, subscriptions, distributions, and redemptions, and collaborate with Finance and the custodian to ensure accurate recordkeeping and investment accounting (processing transactions and valuations)
  • Collaborate with internal Audit colleagues and external auditors on annual audit processes
  • Manage and track internal budget
  • Continue refinement of investment documentation and knowledge management processes and procedures
  • Integrate technology systems and improve data management
  • Review reports provided by external operational due diligence (ODD) provider and render independent opinion on operational risks
  • Develop operational due diligence capabilities to facilitate internal ODD review of select strategies
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree, graduate degree or CPA preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in an investment or finance function
  • Previous experience with managing counterparty relationships and developing/executing control processes 
  • Experience leading the reporting, operations or middle office function at an asset management firm preferred
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required; working knowledge of FactSet and Bloomberg preferred
  • Previous exposure to traditional and alternative investment strategies preferred
