Internship

Under close supervision, an intern will perform technical duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the company. These duties may include working with staff and partners to design, test and implement data collection tools for the evaluation of project activities; helping to review routine program management reports and data and to prepare and process agreement packages for local implementing partners; gathering and organizing data to provide information for departmental special projects or reports; accompanying professional level employees on assignments; conducting interviews with clients or internal personnel to obtain basic information for programmatic use; working with professional level employees to identify, document and prepare reports in a variety of formats (written, pictorial, audiovisual etc.) for project documentation and knowledge management purposes; and/or other duties of a similar level of complexity as assigned. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to the company’s organizational structure. The intern will use current company-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. Note: Specific activities vary by assignment. A wide range of college majors are considered based on specific needs of department such as: Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Community Development, Social Enterprise Development, and Communications.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Analyzes, generates and maintains records and other reference material necessary for departmental use.
  • Answers and makes phone calls, responds to program related questions and sends written material as appropriate.
  • Composes, types and prints reports, general letters, spreadsheets, e-mail, and memorandum from rough drafts or general instructions, involving the assembly of data from computer and paper file or record sources.
  • Conducts special studies in conjunction with a project, analyzes data and makes recommendations based upon studies.
  • Produces written/visual documentation of project activities and/or project models for both internal and public dissemination.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Problem Solving and Impact

  • Works on problems of moderate scope that require analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors and interpretation of the situation.
  • Exercises judgment within defined and existing practices to determine specific work methods for obtaining results.

Supervision Given/Received

  • Has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Contributes to business and departmental functions to achieve goals and acquire work experience.
  • Receives general instructions on assignments and work is reviewed for accuracy and completion.
  • Reports to a manager depending on specific assignments. Will also be supervised by an overall “preceptor” responsible for supporting the intern in achieving [pre-identified educational/professional development goals.
Educational Background: 
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or international equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Requires that the applicant has at minimum completed the equivalent of a four-year post-secondary degree program.
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with staff, implementing partners and/or clients.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to speak Thai is a plus.
  • Prior work experience with a non-governmental organization is a plus.
