AARP Foundation Experience Corps is seeking a responsible energetic, intern to join our team in Baltimore. The intern will be able to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), be collaborative, self-motivated and eager to learn and apply knowledge learned to further the Branch’s recruitment and program management efforts.  The person selected for this position will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs the Branch’s daily operations and procedures to contribute to our efforts specifically those related to recruiting and supporting older adult volunteers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Update and post social media content under staff supervision; respond to web correspondence, social media posts, and general emails related to recruitment, retention, and special events
  • Research and gather information on upcoming community events and other recruitment opportunities in the local area
  • Respond to phone inquiries, provide basic program information, and direct calls
  • Design and update marketing materials for recruitment and information events; create, edit and maintain presentations using Power Point, Prezi, Google Slides, ZohoShow, or other similar mediums
  • Train and assist older adults with creating and maintaining online accounts including email
  • Use cloud based software to input information, schedule appoints, and update data and records
  • Assist in staffing volunteer recruitment and retention events
  • Assist staff in managing school based volunteer corps and other team events as applicable
  • Shadow multiple office positions to gain knowledge about staff roles within the Branch
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post doctorate students.   
Skills/Experience: 
  • AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.  
  • This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
