Habitat also advocates to improve access to decent and affordable shelter and offers a variety of housing support services that enable families with limited means to make needed improvements on their homes as their time and resources allow. 

HFHI Long-term Volunteer Programs (LVP) exists to equip Habitat locally to engage and empower volunteers in their own communities to build capacity & help grow the Habitat organization, impact communities more deeply, and create partners for the cause. These teams works to support the Habitat AmeriCorps program, Campus Chapters, Habitat Young Professionals and a new youth engagement strategy. 

The goal for the LVP Communications intern is to provide program support in the area of communications through the development of strategies, brand awareness and maintenance of important platforms. 

This position is 3-4 days/week (15-20 hours), unpaid internship based at either Atlanta, GA or Washington DC.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Help develop and implement a social media engagement strategy and content calendar for the department Twitter and Facebook groups
  • Support content and branding updates for program manuals and resources
  • Maintain open AmeriCorps postings with Service Year platform
  • Carry out resource audits within two internal program platforms
  • Create templates for storytelling purposes
  • Additional responsibilities as needed and desired
Educational Background: 
Current undergraduate student
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent communication skills (writing, editing)
  • Knowledge of communication strategies 
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to take on individual projects as well as work within a team
  • Great organizational skills and the ability to balance varied tasks and deadlines
  • Consistent attention to detail
  • Technologically savvy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nonprofit experience 
  • Interest in social justice (affordable housing)
