Vice President – Strategy & Organizational Effectiveness

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness leads the strategy realization team of five direct reports which is responsible for facilitating the development, realization and measurement of the strategy at all levels of the Habitat for Humanity’s global organization. (HFH)

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage a team of 20+ staff that lead the global functions and provide technical expertise in strategy, planning, change leadership, project management, research, measurement, analysis, reporting, evaluation, accountability, organizational learning and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development and realization of the HFH global strategy with the inclusion of global stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and adaptive implementation of the prioritized multi-year transformation plan for realizing the intent of the strategy, including the establishment of quantitative measurement.
  • Lead the establishment of the annual plan for all divisions that aligns with the strategy.
  • Facilitate the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and adaptive learning of the strategy execution and programmatic performance.
  • Provide strategy and change leadership advisory services to the senior leaders and leaders of change initiatives.
  • Drive decision-making that creates medium- and long-term improvement.
  • Communicate and facilitate the alignment of global stakeholders with the strategy and it’s realization.
  • Partner with leadership and consultants to support execution of key initiatives.
  • Sponsor initiatives led by the strategy realization team, such as Research and MEAL.
  • Facilitate the senior leadership weekly and periodic face to face meetings.
  • Actively engage peers, sector leaders and sources of environmental data to keep abreast of future trends, best practices and factors that influence the global strategy.

Educational Background: 
MBA/MPA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Years of Related Experience: 15+ years demonstrated successful management experience, preferably in a global organization. 5+ years of strategy, management and/or change consulting experience.
  • Personal values and behavior that align with the Christian mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Experience and ability to effectively work and lead transformational change in a large global organization, preferably in international development or federated structure.
  • Proven capacity in strategy development, business planning, implementing transformational change, and portfolio management.
  • Ability to interface with, influence and provide excellent service to all levels of the organization (Board, Sr. leaders, middle management of HFHI, US Affiliates and country programs). Demonstrated ability to challenge ideas of C-level senior leaders and offer alternative solutions.
  • Excellent facilitation and training capacity.
  • Capacity to work with cross-culturally
  • Knowledge and experience with leading research, measurement and evaluation functions.
  • Ability to move between strategic thinking and details
  • A strong process orientation
  • A demonstrated commitment to community service

Preferred:

  • Experience living or working in a developing country context.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the international development sector
