An internship in the Organizing & Activism Unit will expose an intern to how Amnesty International USA engages individuals in grassroots organizing and advocacy work through our regional conferences. The O&A Unit intern will support the planning and preparations for the 2019 Regional Conferences. This internship will work closely with Field Organizers in developing and implementing host state outreach/engagement plans for fall regionals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- build strategic partnerships in host cities
- think strategically, as a grassroots organizer
- engage youth in a social justice driven organization
- use outreach and recruitment tools
- support with planning conference logistics
Educational Background:
We are seeking interns that are rising juniors or seniors in an undergraduate program or graduate program related to (human rights or other areas of study).
Skills/Experience:
We also review applicants of recent graduates who may be seeking the same type of mentorship and educational focus related to their career choice or educational background.
The following would be beneficial for entering or program:
- Interest in Amnesty International
- Some experience in conference planning
- Background in social justice organizing
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Creative and a strategic thinker
