The Georgia State Office of AARP is looking for an undergraduate or graduate communications intern who is eager to help implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for the state!
Our communications team updates the social media accounts and websites frequently using approved photos, videos, and content and graphics; writes blog posts for the websites; creates talking points, radio scripts, and editorial columns. If you have a knack for editing, writing and taking cool video, this is the place for you! Our key stake holders are 50+, and we are continuously innovating our communications approach to educate, entice and entertain
- Media relations—Draft news releases/advisories (and other materials) for events in our community presence areas (Atlanta, Augusta and Macon); update online community calendars in these areas to help promote events to residents; update media database and identify journalists who write about initiatives that we are currently pursuing.
- Photography/video—be able to photograph/video events for use in collateral materials or on the web/social media
- Website—help ensure content is refreshed frequently to keep volunteers, members and anyone interested in AARP Georgia in-the-know about what we’re doing to advocate for the 50+.
- Social media—identify images, videos and other information that can be posted to Facebook and Twitter. Help with getting our Instagram account online and being on top of any current digital trends that can help enhance our communications.
