The internship opportunities are open to current students or recent graduates of a college program. The intern is expected to demonstrate a keen interest in nonprofits, as well as interest in a field of study related to the position. 

Support the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies and tactics to drive consumer engagement within United Way’s young adult and women’s portfolios. 

Individual will work closely with the Director, Women’s Engagement and Director, Young Adult and Multicultural Engagement to provide first rate “client experience” to local United Ways through the provision of world class marketing/ technical assistance and support, capacity building and development/launch of locally relevant tools, resources and information to equip them to maximize consumer engagement, donor recruitment and retention initiatives. Additionally, individual will support the Women’s Engagement Director in planning and executing United Way Worldwide’s global women’s leadership conference in March 2020. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies and tactics to drive consumer engagement within United Way’s young adult and women’s portfolios. 
  • Work with marketing team to develop both traditional and digital marketing tactics designed to recruit and engage millennial and female segments. 
  • Perform market analysis and prepare promotional presentations. 
  • Research and perform analysis for potential partnerships and collaborations.  
  • Manage and update database and customer relationship management systems.  
  • Provide first class and timely service to the United Way Network.  
  • Other duties, on an as-needed basis. 
Educational Background: 
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree program (marketing, business administration, or communications preferred).  
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proficient in the use of word and excel (ability to utilize Smartsheet is a plus). 
  • Strong writing and interviewing skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 

Preferred, not required: 

  • Experience liaising with and managing volunteer leadership 
  • Experience in a marketing role 
  • Experience in graphic design, social/digital media 
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of consistently delivering projects on time, within budget and with a high level of quality
