This internship will occur between late January and early April 2020.

The internship opportunities are open to current students or recent graduates of a college program. The intern is expected to demonstrate a keen interest in nonprofits, as well as interest in a field of study related to the position.
The Public Policy and Advocacy Intern will be responsible for supporting the United Way Worldwide public policy team in advancing United Way’s national policy priorities in the areas of health, education, financial stability and community strengthening. They will collaborate with the public policy team to support state and local United Ways in their federal advocacy efforts and support the team in communicating policy priorities to congressional members. The intern will have opportunities to participate in a range of projects including but not limited to in-person and digital trainings for the United Way network, development of issue-specific toolkits, and visits to Capitol Hill.
- Collaborate on updating and digitizing advocacy training materials and handbooks into an online learning platform.
- Assist the Public Policy Team with logistics and operations of annual advocacy training and Capitol Hill Day.
- Assist with the creation of materials to support local United Ways with civic engagement campaigns (Census 2020 and voter education).
- Support the working tax credits advocacy campaign including updating messaging materials and supporting public grassroots digital activations.
- Conduct analyses and research around the team’s policy priorities specifically related to housing, education, and other issues as assigned.

- Experience using social media for advocacy campaigns or professional work including student organizations preferred but not required
- $100 semi-monthly travel stipend provided
