This internship will run through the NFL season and will end in February 2020. The intern will work approximately 10 hours per week. This opportunity is open to current students or recent graduates of a college program. United Way Worldwide is happy to coordinate with your University’s faculty to assist in obtaining credit (if available). The intern is expected to demonstrate a keen interest in nonprofits, as well as interest in a field of study related to the position.

The Intern, NFL Partnership will learn and assist with developing, sharing, and managing the digital content/community in support of the NFL Partnership via partnership handles and web platforms. As this internship is research focused, the ideal candidate will have an eye for culturally-relevant, engaging content, an understanding of digital platforms/behaviors/audiences, and a keen eye for creative opportunities. Strong attention to detail and written/oral communications skills are essential. Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, or other content editing tools is recommended but not required. A passion for/understanding of football and its role within the community is preferred. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Write a weekly blog entry for www.unitedway.org/nfl and Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud.
  • Write social media posts and manage day-to-day function of NFL Partnership handles with consistent, engaging, community-focused content (twitter.com/UW_TEAM_NFL, facebook.com/teamnfl, instagram.com/nflunitedway/).
  • Research and repurpose content related to partnership work including NFL market local United Way/team news, Character Playbook news, United Way Player(+) players, etc.
  • Customize content by channel, and ensure content is multi-purposed for NFL Partnership web platforms and build out key sections, such as: player pages, teamwork, and history.
  • Use NFL Partnership handles to promote the partnership’s national initiatives and fundraising efforts.
  • Develop content for engaging United Way Network in NFL Partnership via Breakfast Online Communications.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience with communications, marketing, or other relevant field
  • Interest in learning about digital marketing strategies including social media, email, and advertising
  • Strong attention to detail and written/oral communications skills are essential
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, or other content editing tools is recommended but not required
  • A passion for/understanding of football and its role within the community is preferred
  • Organized, creative, and analytical thinker
  • Strong research skills
  • Quick-learner, with a can-do attitude
  • Strong teamwork skills to see a project to completion
